Ezra Video Preview & Remix
July 13, 2009
We’re gearing up for some new Etherkreet releases.
Ezra’s new album Atonotoop will be an audiovisual release.
I’m working on the videos right now and this is one of the first textural experiments I did.
No (digital) animation from me this time, but more of a hands on and improvised approach. Why? You might ask. Well, first of all I wanted to get away from the computer for a bit. Secondly I also wanted to be able to perform this kind of work live.
The final video will be a real time, one shot affair without any layering. Only some colour correction and cleaning up will be done afterwards.
The audio part of the piece will be a longer version of the track which starts at the 2 minute mark in this vid.
Finally here’s some audio as well.
My remix of Ezra’s track Ademstulp.

Free EP: Bas van Huizen – Zijgersveins
December 12, 2008
There have been two releases for Waterscape and Kaspar Hauser records in the pipeline for quite a while now. Hopefully they see the light of day soon.
The music is slightly different from my usual output as it’s mostly based on live looping of guitar and singing bowl.
Zijgersveins is a free EP of 5 tracks which didn’t make those two albums, but work surprisingly well together as a compact standalone taster.
Download the zip here with the mp3’s and artwork.

Gammelman video by Keiko Hosoya
October 1, 2008
Japanese video artist Keiko Hosoya made a video for my track Gammelman.
Trappen in de val die verwachting heet…

Some older tracks from me this time.
Trappen in de val die verwachting heet
These were released on the Lomechanik double album Ruis voor thuis/Iets met biets.
The versions here are different mixes and I added another section in Trappen.
A remix I did for some Dutch indie band. As far as I know, it was never used. I wonder why?
If you speak Dutch, you might be able to figure out the name of the band through the track title.
They’re not worth mentioning

Welcome
August 31, 2008
I have the honor of making the first post and I’d like to share some music I made in Japan.
Last year me and Jak had a residency at Youkobo Art Space. During our stay we also took part in an outdoor exhibition called Trolls in the Park.
My contribution to the exhibition was a sound performance with my trusty singing bowl, some contact mics and different found objects. I also incorporated some audio fragments taken from interviews my friend Yuko Kotera did with visitors in the park.
Here are two tracks I was able to extract from my recordings:
For two days a group of children from the nearby elementary school visited the exhibition for a small art tour.
I explained them a little about my set up and performance and also invited them to make some sounds.
During all the ensuing chaos I managed to record a few minutes:
